Manawar: District collector Shriman Shukla accompanied by local MLA Ranjana Bhaghel, Dhar superintendent of police Birendra Singh, Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA) officials visited Barda, Uradna, Semalda, Achauda, Perkhad and interacted with villagers.
In Barda, the affected people put forth their grievances regarding the lack of facilities at rehabilitation site. After this the team headed to Uradna where the collector met the affected people and told him about the strategy of the government regarding providing shelter to the affected people at rehabilitation sites. MLA Ranjana Baghel also met villagers and told them about the orders passed by the apex court and that the Congress leaders are misleading them to defame the Chief Minister. Baghel said that if the affected people insist, she can request the Chief Minister to meet them.
The displaced people from Uradna said that the rehabilitation does not possess proper facilities like electricity connection, drainage system etc. The collector told them that unless the people settle down there the authorities will not be able to provide the facilities. Once the people start settling they will not face any problem. The collector said that it was a misleading statement that the affected people shall be forcefully evacuated from their places from July 31 onwards. It is the responsibility of the authority and administration that the common people need not face any kind of improper situation. The construction of the gate at Sardar Sarovar Dam is the orders passed by the higher court. In case of rise in water levels it is the responsibility of the government authority.
SP Virendra Singh also added that police force is to help and protect the common people and not to forcefully remove them from their places. During the meet, SDOP Aishwarya Shastri, SDM Jitendra Chauhan, CEO Mahendra Ghanghoriya, land acquisition officer Ranjana Mujlaud, BJP Gramin Mandal head Shantilal Patidar, BJP leader Mukesh Mandloi, andSamirmal Jain were present.
