Indore: AAP challenges ‘vigyapan veer’ CM to publish photos of rehabilitation

Indore: Flaying the claims of state government over rehabilitation and resettlement of Sardar Sarovar Dam oustees, Aam Aadmi Party leader Bhagwant Mann said that “BJP government in MP have been sacrificing thousands of dam oustees to gain mileage for forthcoming Gujarat elections.” Addressing a press conference before leaving the city for a meet with the dam oustees, here on Tuesday, Mann said that BJP wants to make Sardar Sarovar Dam an issue in Gujarat elections, due to which the party in state is in a hurry to complete resettlement of the people.

“I will raise the issue in the Parliament and at all the forums after meeting the oustees there. Government should not use police and carry out forced resettlement as things will turn worse in that case. Solution must be arrived at through talks. Moreover, gates of the dam should not be closed before completion of the work,” Mann said. Refuting the government’s claim about resettlement, the AAP also challenged Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to release the photographs of all the rehabilitation centres in media and clarify the status of the places of work to prove their claims.

Aam Aadmi Party’s Alok Agrawal alleged that Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s Narmada Sewa Yatra was just a show off to build his own image. Terming the CM as ‘Vigyapan Veer’ Agrawal said “Chouhan had spent Rs 2,000 crore for the Narmada yatra project.” “If the amount (Rs 2,000 crore) was spent on the resettlement of oustees then nobody would have to protest for rehabilitation. We challenge Chauhan to release the photographs of his ongoing resettlement work in media and publish them in newspapers to prove his claims,” he said.

The party also appealed to the government to extend the time for rehabilitation by at least six months as it would be highly difficult for people to leave their places during the rainy season. Quoting Chouhan as saying during an announcement of package just a couple of days ago that “It will take at least two months to get facilitated,” Agrawal said “Chauhan himself proved that rehabilitation and resettlement are yet to be completed as he said the government ‘will’ provide better facilities to the oustees.” Aam Aadmi Party also alleged that the government has been presenting the orders of Supreme Court in wrong way as the court only directed for forceful resettlement of 2,000 people and not all the 18,000 victims.
