During the first ODI between India and West Indies yesterday, one of the latter’s bowlers got so excited after taking his debut international wicket that he mistakenly slapped another teammate. West Indian pacer Oshane Thomas, who made his debut against India yesterday during the first ODI at Barsapara Cricket Ground in Guwahati, mistakenly slapped wicketkeeper Shai Hope during the match.
While bowling the second over, Oshane Thomas dismissed Shikhar Dhawan at mere score of 4. Thomas’s ball first hit Dhawan’s bat and then the stumps, sending the latter to pavilion in the second over itself. Thomas got too excited after dismissing Dhawan and gave a high-five to wicketkeeper Shai Hope in celebration, however, his right hand missed Hope’s gloves and went straight into his face. Noticing his fault, Hope immediately apologised to his team mate and both carried on with the celebration. The incident was caught on camera. Have a look at the video below.
Asked to bat first, West Indies scored 322/8 in 50 overs with the help of Shimron Hetmyer knock of 106, along with useful contributions from Devendra Bishoo and Kemar Roach towards the end. In response, Rohit Sharma (152*) and skipper Virat Kohli (140) scored blistering centuries to help India thrash the West Indies by eight wickets in just 42.1 overs.
