In a shocking turn of events, the Indian cricket team haven’t named Cheteshwar Pujara following his poor performance in the County and a warm-up game against Essex for the first Test at Edgbaston. Pujara was replaced by KL Rahul who scored runs on a consistent basis. However, social media went gaga after Cheteshwar Pujara exclusion for the first Test XI.
Here is how the Twitter reacted:
In the first Test of the 5-match series, Virat Kohli-led India will look to improve the team’s poor overseas record. Co-incidentally, this will be the historic 1,000th Test match for the English side. As for India, their last series win in England came more than a decade ago, in 2007 under Rahul Dravid. When it comes to Edgbaston, India have no dearth of painful associated memories as far as Test cricket is concerned. Their record at Edgbaston has been rather dismal. On the previous occasion when India played a Test here, in 2011, England opener Alastair Cook’s masterclass guided the hosts to a thumping victory.
