There is no specific security threat to the airport. But the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) deployed at airports follow strict security procedures on national events like Independence Day and Republic Day, says CISF official.

Denying any specific threat as a reason for high alert, K N Tripathy DIG CISF told Free Press Journal, “There are threats that keep coming, but there is no specific threat. The airport and its vicinity is always under constant patrol.” While during ordinary days there are regular patrolling, frequency of patrolling and other deployments increase further during national events.

Talking about awareness level among passengers on restricted items, Tripathy said, “There is growing awareness among passengers about restricted items that cannot be carried to the airport.” He added that CISF continues to upgrade in case of technologies and techniques as passengers find new ways to cross the system.
