Independence Day 2018: BJP President Amit Shah goofs up while hoisting national flag, Opposition takes a dig at him

On the 72nd Independence Day, BJP president Amit Shah, BJP leaders and their supporters gathered in Delhi at their party headquarters. But as soon as the Amit Shah pulled the string attached to the post for the hoisting ceremony, the Indian flag fell on down. He quickly took care of the situation and wrapped the ritual with a salute.

The video of this mistake made it to social media and opposition party leaders shared their views on the event.

The Congress party’s officials shared the video on Twitter and said, “Jo desh ka jhanda nahi sambhal sakte, woh desh kya sambhalenge (those who can’t handle the national flag, how will they run the country)”.

“Those who dole out certificates of patriotism don’t know the right way to sing the national anthem,” the tweet added.

But this wasn’t the first time this type of thing has happened. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti faced the situation in 2016 when the flag she was going to hoist at the Independence Day ceremony fell off the post.
