John Abraham starring Satyameva Jayate garnered around Rs 20.52 crore on its opening day. But on the second day the film saw a drop in collection as it was a working day, it collected only Rs 7.92 crore. Even Akshay Kumar’s Gold collected around Rs 25 crore on its opening day and on the second day it saw low collection of Rs 8 crore. But it is still ahead of Satyameva Jayate. The total collection of Gold after the second day is Rs 33.25 crore while Satyameva Jayate has collected Rs 28.44 crore after two days.
The movies are expecting to see an upward trend going into the weekend though. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on his Twitter account about the drops in the collections of the two films and stated, “After a big holiday [#IndependenceDay] on Wed, it was the regular working day on Thu… #Gold and #SatyamevaJayate took a hit on Day 2, since biz, generally, witnesses a decline after a holiday… Growth in biz is most crucial at this stage [Fri to Sun]…”
He further tweeted, “A *5-day extended opening weekend* is a rarity… If #Gold and #SatyamevaJayate manage to cement their status by recording solid numbers over the next few days, an impressive lifetime total will be on the cards… It’s a wait and watch situation right now.”
