Hrs after suspension, MBMC  officer walks into ACB trap

Bhayandar : Less than 48 hours after he was suspended for failure to prevent illegal construction activities in his jurisdiction, a ward officer attached to the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) walked into an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) trap on Tuesday evening.

According to the Thane unit of the ACB, the accused identified as Dilip Jagdale had demanded Rs 1 lakh from a vada-pav vendor whose handcart he had confiscated last week. The aggrieved vada-pav vendor registered a complaint with the ACB following which a trap was laid under the supervision of Deputy SP Anjali Andhale at Hotel RK Inn in Mira Road.

Jagdale was caught red handed while accepting the bribe amount.

A case under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused.
