Burhanpur: A health check-up camp was organised in Morjhira village to observe the World Iodine Deficiency Day. The event was organised under the aegis of women and child development minister Archana Chitnis and following the instructions by district panchayat president Kishor Patil.
Health of 65 students was checked in the camp and they were given required medicines. A child, Bhavesh Navalsingh, who attended the camp and was suffering from severe vomiting and loose motion, was immediately referred to a district hospital. Patil later paid a visit to the child in district hospital and asked about his health condition. During his visit he also distributed fruits to the children admitted in the hospital.
Kishor Patil said that the occasion was also observed in Maharashtra where the iodine deficiency and nutritional diet of students is checked and as a good start we have started observing this day in Burhanpur region of Madhya Pradesh as well.
On this occasion various plants, including mango, lemon, amla, custard apple and pomegranate were also planted and a resolution of protecting them was also taken.
Courtyard shelter worker Ratna Patil informed that during this camp four children namely Sumit Premsingh, Bhavesh Navalsingh, Geeta Rajesh, and Vaishnavi Subhash were found highly malnourished.
Many women from the region were also present in the camp.
