The lucky kids of this generation now will read all the best novels of the previous generation and will not have to hide it from their parents, reason? It is a part of their syllabus.

Thanks to the Council of Indian School Certificate Examination, students of ICSE schools will now reads books like Harry Potter, graphic novels of Asterix and Tintin, The Hobbit, Amar Chitra Katha, Satyajit Ray’s Feluda and Holmes in their English literature classes starting from academic year 2017-18. Apart from the novels and the graphic novels biographies of APJ Abdul Kalam, Anne Frank and Malala Yousafzai are also set to be a part of the syllabus.
According to the Times of India report classes I and II won’t feel left out since Noddy books will be included as a part of their syllabus. American cartoonist Art Spiegelman’s Holocaust saga ‘Maus’ are among the other interesting additions to the curriculum.
In a media address a day before the conference, Arathoon said modifications were also being introduced in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics for the ISC 2018 examinations. The syllabus, he said, had been designed keeping in mind engineering and medical examinations across the country.
Mass media and communication will also be introduced as elective subjects for ICSE and ISC students.
