Ujjain: Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad general secretary Dr Avadhesh Puri has demanded an immediate compensation for arsenal victims of the Simhastha fair. In a letter to the Chief Minister, Shivraj Chouhan, he stated that despite five months having gone by since the fair, the government had done nothing for these victims, rather,  were in a hurry to close all files related to the fair at  high power committee to be held in Bhopal on Wednesday.

He also raised the issue of incomplete development works in the letter. Puri pointed out those contractors not maintained the required standard of the construction. On inspection, it was found that the substandard material was used in building the structure, he noted. Puri also brought the issue to the notice of in-charge minister Bhupendra Singh, chief secretary, divisional commissioner, collector and the Simhastha Development Authority chairman.

Puri said, officials would present the detailed report of the expenses of Simhastha at the high level meeting on Wednesdays and all file be closed, despite the fact that several Simhastha development works were still incomplete and the victims had not received compensation. Development works of the Akharas which had to be completed before the Simhastha are still incomplete, he stated in the letter.
