Indore : The railways will provide better passenger amenities at newly-built platform no 5 and 6 and construct sheds and lifts. These decisions were taken following inspection of General Manager (GM) of Western Railway (WR) GC Agrawal.
Irked over absence of passenger facilities and plan fiasco, the GM had issued strict instruction to the DRM, Ratlam Division to rectify mistakes in the planning and construction of platforms and provide better amenities to passengers as earlier as possible.
Sheds and lifts would be constructed at two platforms
He issued these instruction after inspecting the two platforms on April 7 and found some glaring faults in planning and also found inadequate passenger amenities at the platforms. Agrawal also instructed DRM Manoj Sharma to set up sheds at the platforms and take step to install lifts there.

He also instructed him to build a pathway at both end of platforms for uninterrupted movement of passengers particularly ailing and physically-challenged. The pathway would also help in transportation of cargos.
Now, the DRM is planning to carry out job soon and even reduced the number of trains operating from the platforms to just 8— 6 DEMUs and 2 passenger trains. No long distance train is scheduled to start from there. During the inspection, the GM had also expressed deep anguish over absence of passenger amenities as well in failure in the planning. He also reprimanded the officers concerned.
