Following Hrithik’s Kaabil, SRK’s Raees changes release date, will clash at box office

Last week, when Rakesh Roshan announced that Kaabil will release on January 25 and not 26, the first thing that came to our mind was that Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees and Hrithik starrer Kaabil will finally not clash at the box office. But hold on. The box office battle is still on.

Both the films were supposed to release on January 26, 2016, but in the first week on December the makers of Kaabil announced that the film will release a day prior to the schedule. Taking in consideration the long weekend the film will definitely have an edge as it will get a five day weekend. And for the first few shows there won’t be any competition for the film. But again both the films are set to release on January 25.

Raees is produced by SRK’s Red Chillies and Ritesh Sidhwani-Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment. Talking about release date the film has already been through a troubled journey. The initial release date of the film was Eid 2016, which was postponed to avoid clash with Salman Khan’s Sultan. Post that, the release date of Raees was set on Republic Day 2017- which again clashed with Kaabil. And now when Kaabil pre-poned its dated Raees did the same.

The trailer of the film also didn’t have a smooth journey. As it was said that the trailer was supposed to release on SRK’s 51st birthday but was avoided as Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi was also set to release on the same day. But neither of the trailers came out on the day.

The Badshah of Bollywood shared the swaggy poster of the thriller film on Twitter recently. He posted:

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, the film also features Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddique in key roles.
