Mahajan emphasised that the contribution of citizens played a very significant role in the development of the city. Citizens should understand their responsibilities apart from their rights, she pointed out. They should pay special attention to keeping the city clean, and not let the piles of garbage pollute the environment, she said.

The media played an important role in spreading this awareness and should time and again highlight the noble acts of the citizens who keep their surroundings clean, Mahajan stated. She also mentioned the pond deepening and renovation works done in Indore district with public participation. 300 ponds were excavated without any official expenses, she said.
