Family members of a 4-year-old girl ransack Bhandari Hospital, threaten staff
Kin to lodge police complaint after patient’s death in CHL Hospital
Indore: Enraged over the death of their patients, family members of two patients created ruckus at two separate hospitals on Sunday morning. They were alleging medical negligence on the part of hospital and staff.
One of the hospitals was even ransacked by the family members of a four-year-old patient alleging wrong treatment to her.
However, no police complaint was lodged in both of the cases.
Case1: Bhandari Hospital
Four-year-old Gauravi Billore, a resident of Scheme No 78, was admitted to Bhandari Hospital and Research Centre on Saturday night in critical conditions. She died during treatment on Sunday morning after which the family members started creating ruckus at the hospital.
“She was admitted on May 26 with the problem of fever and infection. Her condition was not critical and she died due to the negligence on the hospital,” enraged family members of the four-year-old, who ransacked the hospital, said.
They also broke the glasses at the hospital reception and threatened the receptionist as well.
Meanwhile, Dr Himanshu Kelkar, who was treating the child, said, “The patient was suffering from respiratory failure and infection. She was critical at the time of admission as the family members had admitted her in Nahar Hospital earlier from where they had taken her back to home.”
The patient was admitted to the hospital in critical conditions and the hospital had informed the relatives before shifting her to ventilator.
“We also asked the family members to go for post-mortem of the girl to clear their doubts but they refused. They created ruckus and did not pay the bill. Now, the hospital will lodge a complaint against them for damaging the property and threatening the staff,” Dr Kelkar said.
Case 2: CHL Hospital
25-year-old Mahendra Singh, a resident of Vyankatesh Vihar Colony, was admitted to CHL Hospital on May 24 with dengue fever. His family members alleged that he was recovering well till Saturday night but the doctors shifted him to ICU and put him on ventilator at 4 am. Few minutes after shifting him to the ICU, the staff informed the family members about his death.
Piyush Purohit, deceased’s friend, said, “Mahendra was admitted to the hospital with fever and other problems. Doctors had informed us that he was having dengue and directed us to arrange 8-10 units of blood.”
He said that the patient was recovering well but the doctors shifted him suddenly to ICU and later put him on ventilator and within few minutes declared him death.
“We have informed the police about the same and post-mortem of the patient was done. We will lodge FIR against hospital administration after performing last rites,” Purohit said.
Meanwhile, hospital administration denied any such incident and the staff said that no authorised person is available to comment due to Sunday.
