Mumbai : Researchers from System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) have predicted that the air quality index for the city will be good for breathing. The air quality index was reported at 71 on Thursday after the city reported moderate air quality index on Wednesday.  Out of the ten areas monitored by SAFAR, eight areas reported good air quality levels (0-100) as against BKC and Mazagaon who reported moderate air quality levels which is between 100 and 200. Gufran Beig, project director of SAFAR said, “We are witnessing passing of colder breeze from northern India to Western India and with the city like Mumbai which has high temperature, the cleaning of pollutants from the environment picks up fast. Owing to these reasons, we are witnessing good air quality levels and we are expecting this to stay the same for the next three days.”

Meanwhile, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature for Santacruz was reported at 33.9 degree Celsius and minimum temperature was reported at 26.8 degree Celsius on Thursday. Besides, the maximum temperature for Colaba was reported at 33 degree Celsius and minimum temperature was reported at 27.8. The IMD has predicted that the temperatures will rise to 34 degree Celsius in the next few days.
