Ujjain: District administration after getting clearance from the Civil Court demolished seven houses erected illegally on government land at Ankpat Marg here on Tuesday morning. Encroachers also told that they had been sold plots by DCC president.

Nayab Tehsildaar, Shekhar Chuadhary along with the encroachment removal squad of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) reached early morning behind the Uttaramukhi Hanuman temple and vacated the entire land piece till afternoon. Chimanganj police also accompanied the squad to tackle the affected people in case they get furious on the gang. One of the agitated residents whose entire house was demolished alleged that president of District Congress Committee (DCC), Anantnarayn Meena befooled them and sold the plots on government land. On the whole issue, Meena told to the Free Press that he had not sold plots to anyone on the government land and all the levelled allegations were baseless.

Few months ago, administration had served notice for the removal of encroachment from the land to residents Archana, Rajubai, Manorama and others had gone in appeal against the order in civil court. Court gave order in favour of administration on January 27 and directed to demolish the encroachment on February 2.

On being asked whether this piece of land will be used in upcoming Simhastha Fair – 2016, Chaudhary said that at present there is no plan to use this land but this removal of encroachment will facilitate the passage of seers who will camp behind Uttaramukhi Hanuman temple during the fair.
