Ujjain : Hundreds of officials and employees of over two dozen government departments coupled with various representatives of about dozen communities exhibited their unity to register protest against MP government’s move to continue reservation in promotion despite clear order passed by the Jabalpur high court.

Under the banner of SAPAX (samanya, pichhda evam alpsankhyak varg adhikari-karmachari sanstha), the agitators took out a huge vehicle rally in the city on Sunday. The rally which started from Mahakaleshwar Temple travelled through Mahakal Ghati, Gudri, Patni Bazaar, Gopal Mandir, Sarafa, Nai Sadak, Malipura, Dewasgate, Chamunda Mata Choraha, Freeganj Over-bridge, Shahid Park and concluded at Tower Chowk. The participants, including large number of women employees, carrying placards and wearing caps raised slogans against the step-motherly and anti-Constitutional policies of the state government.

A memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan was also handed over to the ADM Avadhesh Sharma, in which it was demanded that the order passed by the Jabalpur high court in which reservation in the promotions has been cancelled should be implemented. Those expressed views during the public meeting included executive engineers of various departments including Shobha Khanna, Dharmendra Verma, PG Kelkar, Rajendra Joshi, District Education Officer Sanjay Goyal, Dr Jyoti Jain, employees leaders Subhashrao Awad and Devendra Vyas, Jiyalal Sharma, Anil Chandel, Arvind Jain among others. Lokendra Shastri conducted the proceedings while Mukesh Jain proposed a vote of thanks.
