Eid celebrated with fervour in Ujjain

Ujjain: The festival of Eid al-Fitr was celebrated in the city on Thursday. Muslim community people celebrated the occasion by greeting their friends and relatives after performing Namaz at Eidgah. Thousands of the devotees bowed down to pay obeisance to the almighty seeking peace and prosperity for their family as well as the country.

The city experienced an exceptional joy throughout the day as well dressed citizens greeted and hugged each other sharing the happiness of the festivity. Thousands of the faithfuls performed Namaz at Eidgah located at Indira Nagar displaying an outstanding discipline in the adoration of the God. Namaz was offered in the presence of city qazi Khalikurrehman. The premise of the Eidgah was filled with the fragrance of the scent, as people from all walks of life offered prayers.

Devotees started arriving at Eidgah from 7 pm. The venue was overcrowded and many sat outside the shade to offer prayer. Namaz was offered following an announcement with cannon shot. The festival displayed an example of communal harmony as Hindu community people were seen greeting the Muslims and embracing them with great excitement. Jail administration also allowed kin of the prisoners to meet their loved ones in the jail on the festival.

Minister Paras Jain, mayor Meena Jonwal, collector Kavindra Kiywat, SP Manohar Verma, municipal commissioner Avinash Lavania and other administrative officials also greeted the community people.
