Crossword to celebrate Indian writing with 14th Raymond Crossword Book Award

Indian authors have added priceless gems in the treasure box of admirable fictional and non-fictional literature from around the world. And Crossword Book Awards honours them by bringing together the entire community –authors, readers, publishers and booksellers under one roof.

Introduced in 1998, the Crossword Book Award was launched to encourage Indian writing and Indian authors. Over the years the award has been compared with Pulitzer and Booker. There’s also a monetary prize in each of the four categories – fiction, non-fiction, translations, and children’s literature. This year, the award has gone through a makeover by introducing a lifetime achievement award and few new categories –Popular award readers’ choice- best biography book of the year, Management book of the year, Health and Fitness book of the year and Best children’s author of the year.

The Crossword Book Award recognises and rewards good writing and also actively promotes the authors and their books.

Kinjal Shah, CEO Crossword Bookstores says, “It’s that time of the year, when the whole publishing industry in India comes forward as one family to recognise its own stars. Yes, it’s exciting that we do have a star-studded shortlist this year and we are looking forward to seeing which author wins the most popular votes.”

The 14th Raymond Crossword Book Award makes a star-studded shortlist by introducing celebrity authors like Shilpa Shetty, Ronnie Ronnie Screwvala, Chetan Bhagat and Amish Tripathi, among others.
