Mumbai cops pledge organ donation on Padsalgikar visit

Mumbai : More than 200 policemen working in various police stations in the eastern suburbs made a pledge for organ donation on Friday during a visit by the police commissioner to Ghatkopar police station.

Police commissioner DD Padsalgikar had earlier visited Malvani police station in Malad (W) where he interacted with local citizens and tried to solve their problems. Today, he visited Ghatkopar police station which is in charge of one of the most crucial areas of the eastern suburbs.

Padsalgikar first had a meeting with the police staff from Ghatkopar and other police stations in the area and tried to understand their issues. Later, he met with several prominent citizens of the area like lawyers, doctors, corporators and social workers and thanked them for their co-operation with the police.

On their part, the police personnel said that they are always serving the public during their lifetime and providing security to them on a round the clock basis. Apart from, around 200 policemen and some of their families have pledged their organs after death since this will benefit a lot of people. These persons have filled the forms that are required for this purpose and these have been submitted to Sion Hospital for further action. The police commissioner expressed his happiness at this noble act and said that this will benefit a lot of people.
