Indore : A police constable sustained serious injuries after a fall from the fourth floor and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The man was trying to rescue a one-and-half-year-old girl who had accidently locked herself in her home on the fourth floor.

According to Kanadia police, the incident occurred in GRP Lines located on Bicholi Hapsi Road on Tuesday morning. The injured constable was identified as Dharmendra Pandekar who resided on the second floor of the building. Pandekar was getting ready for duty when the woman residing on the fourth floor of the building called him and told him that her one-and-half-year-old daughter had locked herself in accidently and was crying.

Pandekar tried to pry open the door but failed and finally decided to climb through the balcony of the flat and open the door from inside. During the attempt Pandekar lost his footing and came crashing down.

Pandekar sustained serious injuries to his head and legs and was rushed to the hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.
