Coast guard ship rescued fishing boat Seagull with 14 crew members stranded in sea near Mumbai

Mumbai: The coast guard ship rescued a fishing boat Seagull with 14 fishermen on board on Tuesday night. The fishermen were stranded in the rough sea. The fishing boat was stranded about 200 kilometres from Mumbai due to an engine breakdown since the last ten days. The boat and the crew were handed over to the fisheries department on Wednesday.

The coast guard ship Samudra Prahari was directed from Mumbai on Monday to provide assistance. The boat did not have any food or water and the crew members were waiting for someone to help them. Samudra Prahari towed the boat and its crew back to the shore amid rough seas. During surveillance on Sunday, the coast guard had received signals from this boat as there was heavy rainfall and poor visibility at the sea. The fishing boat Seagull along with the crew was later taken to Sasoon Dock.
