CM glad but his haphazard halts during procession irk many

Mahakal’s Shravan Sawari

Ujjain : Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan joined the Mahakaleshwar’s procession for the second consecutive time in Shravan-Bhadav month to pay his obeisance here on Monday. Chouhan, accompanied by his wife, walked barefoot with the procession and seemed enjoyed the camaraderie of common public. However, CM’s at least three unscheduled stoppages to say hello to his close associates and relish snacks with party workers at certain points on the way disturbed the mood and thus irked many.

The flow first suffered a break when the CM stopped to meet former mayor and senior BJP leader Radheshyam Upadhyay on Pan Dariba Road. Other two stoppages, one at Kartik Chowk for seeing Chammu Guru and the other at Uphar Griha on Dhaba Road to be greeted by party workers, added woes to the jubilant devotees.

It was a magnificence to behold the five forms of deity together in the procession taken out on the maiden Monday of holy month of Bhadav. Devotees were super excited to have glimpse of their favourite deity as the procession was taken out in the city amidst downpour. The procession witnessed the presence of thrilled masses which bowed down their heads in obeisance. Chandramauleshwar was presided in the silver palanquin while Manmahesh was riding the royal horse, Shiv Tandav on Garud in bullock cart, Uma Mahesh on the bull and the Holkar replica in a chariot. It was an overwhelming scene on the banks of Kshipra where the deity was worshipped with the pious water of Kshipra. On either side of the Kshipra was the scores of devotees chanting prayers in folded hands.

Chouhan with his wife Sadhana accompanied the procession after offering worship to the deity at Sabha Mandap at Mahakaleshwar Temple. In saffron attire, he played cymbals throughout the procession. He seemed quite happy as he waved hands to public throughout the way donning a broad smile on face. The procession returned back to the temple at 7.15 pm.

CM, prior to this visit, had joined the last procession of Mahakal on last Monday. It was indeed a bonanza for the citizens to have glance of the lord Mahakal and the CM together.

CM’s presence keeps admin on toes

The district and police administration arranged foolproof security arrangements with deploying all the senior administrative and police officials for the procession. Special security guards guarded the CM and her wife. Divisional commissioner Ravindra Pastor, IGP V Madhukumar, in-charge collector Avinash Lavania, SP MS Verma and others were present to ensure seciruty.

Cops clueless, devotees bear the burnt

Police seemed helpless before the leaders of BJP and Congress while the CM was worshipping the deity at Sabha Mandap. Police did not allow media persons inside the temple and blocked all the routes. On the other hand, a troupe of BJP and Congress leaders rushed inside Sabha Mandap and the cops could not stop them. Several political leaders of BJP and Congress were seen having arguments with the police. BJP state co-spokesperson Rajpal Singh Sisodia was restricted to enter into Sabha Mandap by TI Mahakal Ajay Singh Chouhan. Zila panchayat president Mahesh Parmar and vice president Bharat Porwal were also stopped by ASP Amrendra Singh. Former corporator Gabbar Bhatia had heated arguments with cops. It was stampede-like situation in the temples and the common devotees bore the burnt.

Commotion at Dutt Akhara Ghat

Commotion prevailed at Dutt Akhara Ghat when the procession reached Ramghat. Kshipra river, which was flooding a day ago calmed down and the flood water receded. Due to the normal flow in the river, thousands of devotees turned up to witness the grand aarti performed there. However, the crowd was mistakenly hit by fire brigade water canon while cleaning the silt from the ghats creating a commotion at the ghat. While common people were barred from entering Ramghat to ensure safety for the CM, political leaders were seen trespassing in the security circle threatening the cops.
