Indore: Setting an example for the health officials who give an excuse of staff scarcity, Civil Surgeon Dr Ratan Khandelwal worked in the night shift of the District Hospital and completed the responsibility of a CMO there on Monday night.

However, the hospital’s insiders claimed that it was the result of cold war between the staff and civil surgeon due to which no CMO had come to work at night, whereas the Civil Surgeon claimed it was an emergency situation only.

“I had to stay in the hospital at night too as the CMO, Dr Satankar had some emergency as his close relative had expired. Another CMO, Dr Joshi had completed his duty hours at 8 pm and some of the doctors were on leave due to which I worked overtime as it was my responsibility,” Dr Khandelwal said. He further said that the claims of dispute between him and the staff are baseless.

Meanwhile, on condition of anonymity, a doctor said, “Hospital staff is annoyed at the Civil Surgeon due to his unnecessary orders. Recently, he ordered to close the first entrance of the hospital which is causing problems to the staff and patients.”

Whereas, Dr Khandelwal said that the entrance was closed only to save the operation theatre from infection.
