Indore gears up for yet another Green Corridor

Indore :  After creating history of preparing four successful ‘Green Corridors’ in the city for speedy transportation of organs in the last two months, the city is once again preparing a Green Corridor from Choithram Hospital to the City Airport and Choithram to Greater Kailash Hospital.

The possible Green Corridor would be prepared by the administration at 7 am on Tuesday to transport liver and kidneys of a 41-year-old male patient.

Vishwas Doshi, a resident of Mehidpur, Ujjain was declared brain dead at Medanta Hospital on Monday. He was admitted to the Hospital on Sunday after some problem in his heart.

“Vishwas was a heart patient and was admitted in Medanta Hospital. Unfortunately, he had some bleeding in brain during treatment and was declared brain dead,” secretary of Indore Organ Donation Society, Dr Sanjay Dixit said.

He added that the patient was declared brain dead, initially at 6 pm and second time at 10 pm.

“The liver of the patient will be sent to Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon and kidneys will be given to Choithram Hospital and Greater Kailash Hospital,” Dr Dixit added. Meanwhile, Chief Cardiac Surgeon of Medanta Hospital, Dr Sandeep Srivastava said that a team of Medanta, Gurgaon reached the city and the procedure would be started anytime after declaring brain dead for the second time. Whereas Greater Kailash’s, Dr Anil Bandi said that they are going through medical investigations of three patients and will give the organ to the one who matches the requirements.

The patient was shifted to Choithram Hospital at 10.30 pm on Monday.
