Mumbai: With New Year celebrations around the corner, the forest department has decided to ban parties from being held at forts which come under the forest area. The department has also banned night halts at the bottom or at the peak of any forts. The decision will be applicable to Sinhgad, Lohgad, Visapur, Rajmachi and other forts in Pune.
During past few years, the trend has settled by the event management companies to organise year end party at the bottom of the fort instead of organising it at restaurant, hotel or resort. In such cases, villagers had filed complaint against such party organiser for violation of voice norms and noise pollution. The decision was taken after demand of viillagers from Talegaon, Malawali, Lonavala, Khandala, Matheran, Mulashi and Velhe.
