Indore: Festival of lights is spreading cheer across all markets this year. Seventh pay commission to government employees, good crop due to good monsoon and overall rise in salaries have boosted the buying sentiments of people. Gold, silver, diamonds, automobiles, real estate and electronics market are all garnering more business this festive season.
Though, the five-day-long Diwali festival commenced from Friday, cheers started spreading in the markets from the auspicious occasion of Pushya Nakshatra as all the markets registered high response from buyers. On the occasion of Dhanteras on Friday heavy round of buoyant buying was witnessed. Heavy rush was seen especially at gold shops and showrooms, automobile showrooms and on roads leading to prominent markets.
Sushil Sureka, secretary of Ahilya Chamber of Commerce, an apex body of all the trade organisations of the city said that markets registered around INR 50 cr trade on Dhanteras.
Light weight gold, diamond jewellery in demand
According to bullion market leaders there are obvious reasons to fuel buying and they yield to markets in terms of heavy buying of gold, silver and diamond items.
Traditionally buying of gold, particularly goddess Laxmi imprinted coins are considered as auspicious. Buyers are also going in for light weight gold and diamond jewellery. Three years in a row now traders are getting encouraging response from buyers.
