British Council promotes art, culture in Mumbai

Mumbai: British Council and Mumbai First (Non Governmental Organisation) come together to transform Mumbai into a World Class City.

The British Council India (BCI) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mumbai First to collaborate and work together in the areas of education, tourism, art and culture for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). This is the first Indian city that BCI has collaborated with.

Alan Gemmell, OBE Director India, British Council, said “It is special for me and the British Council India for the first city level partnership in India.” Gemmell told Free Press Journal, they look forward to further this partnership given the importance and relevance of culture as stated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in England recently.

“This year has been declared as year of cultural exchange and the United Kingdom-India celebrate the 70 years of relationship. The British Council has to lead the celebrations and we would like to connect the young people with each other for the next 70 years,” Gemmell said.
