It was just few days before, BJP-Shiv Sena alliance broke, and later started war of words. BJP accusing Sena for non-transparency of BMC administration, on other hand Shiv Sena alleging BJP of back stabbing. In this war of words, Shiv Sena got leverage from the Economic Survey which lauded that Mumbai has the most transparent civic body in the country.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who tabled the Economic Survey in Parliament has ranked Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on top in the country. The Economic Survey has states that Mumbai and Hyderabad’s civic body’s has scored 8 on the scale. The Economic Survey has given the score on the basis of transparency, accountability and participation.
The BJP has been targeting Shiv Sena on its administration and non-transparency in BMC. Due to this the talks between both parties ended on a sour note. But this Economic Survey which lauded BMC has come in handy for Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena which is now using it as ammo to target BJP.
As reported by Hindustan Times, Mumbai BJP President Ashish Shelar hitting back at Shiv Sena said, before applauding themselves, Sena leaders in BMC the must give us an answer about the audit of Rs 70,000 crore from 2012-17, which was not available. He has also said that the findings of the Economic Survey were based on incomplete information.
The war of words didn’t stop here, Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray took social as the platform and launched a quick attack on the BJP. He said that BJP doubts its own finance minister over BMC transparency. Thackeray also asked the BJP to open Union and state cabinet meetings for the press, people and opposition leader.
Shiv Sena member congratulated Mayor Snehal Ambekar, civic chief Ajoy Mehta and the civic administration. The war between BJP-Shiv Sena has everybody’s eyes set on, as two parties were running together for BMC. After BJP coming in power in 2014, have always tried to suppress Shiv Sena, and finally BJP went a step ahead and disowned Shiv Sena. BJP from that day has been targeting Shiv Sena on the non-transparency in the BMC administration. But the Economic Survey will be the ammo for Shiv Sena in BMC elections.
