BJP vs MBMC chief: Turf war all set to escalate

Bhayandar: Even as the BJP-led governance continues to exert pressure on him, MBMC Chief Dr. Naresh Gite has flatly refused to dive into the pool of succumbing to the political influence.

Taking a serious note of the disgraceful act which saw office-bearers of the BJP including the Mayor locking and walking out of their office in MBMC headquarters, the civic chief has reprimanded on-duty personnel attached to the various offices (which were locked in protest of Dr. Gite’s autocratic style of functioning) by slapping show cause notices on them for being hand-in-glove with the political lot.

The notices issued by deputy civic chief Vijay Mhasaal under the Maharashtra Civil Services (discipline and appeal) Rules mandates the concerned personnel to file their say in context to their failure in informing the administration about the lockout and their absence which caused inconvenience to the citizens approaching the offices with their grievances. The developments indicates that the turf war which is primarily between the civic chief and BJP legislator Narendra Mehta is likely to escalate in coming days.

Setback for Shiv Sena: LoP office sealed

In a major embarrassment to the Shiv Sena, the MBMC sealed the Leader of Opposition (LoP) office which was illegally taken over, in the wake of the lock and boycott step taken by the BJP-led governance. After extended rounds of delays in appointing the LoP, the state govt has recently put the ball in the Mayor’s court.  Being the second largest party, Sena has handpicked Raju Bhoir for the job.
