Mumbai BJP chief demands enquiry against the officers involved in demolition of the historic structure
Mumbai: The controversy over the demolition of historic Ambedkar Bhavan by the People’s Improvement Trust (PIT) is not ceasing to end as the BJP has also jumped into it and sought action against the officers responsible for the demolition.
The Sena team consisting of Mayor Snehal Ambekar and MLC Neelam Gorhe had visited the spot and the Mayor had issued ordered a stop work notice. On the other hand, city BJP chief Ashish Shelar visited the demolished site on Monday and demanded that a probe should be ordered in the matter and action should be taken against the civic officers held responsible for the historic structure.
Shelar also emphasised, “Based on the FIR lodged by Dr B R Ambedkar’s grandsons, Prakash and Anandraj Ambedkar, arrests of senior PIT members Madhukar Kamble and former IAS officer Ratnakar Gaikwad should be made at the earliest.”
“Before categorising the historic structure under the dangerous category the MCGM should have taken care of one of the buildings in possession of Prakash Ambedkar which was operated for printing press related works,” added Shelar.
