New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party has planned two parallel Yatras led by its leaders of two sub-castes of Patidars (Patels) on October 1 and 2 in Gujarat in a bid to win back support of the Patel community helping it win the past elections.

Its worry is over the difficulty it may face in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections due to young 24-year old Patidar leader Hardik Patel’s campaign for the past two years and another patidar leader Alpesh Thakor carving out an impressive following of the community, particularly in Kheda district Shah chose to start his campaign.

It has separately convened an OBC (other backward classes) rally by party president Amit Shah next Monday at Phagwel in Kheda district to point out how the most influential and powerful Patidars were trying to eat into their quota by demanding reservation in government jobs and higher education.
