BJP, Congress workers clash, 2 hurt

Indore: Two persons were injured following clash between BJP and Congress activists in Chandan Nagar on Wednesday. After the incident, hundreds of BJP supporters gathered at police station to demand action. Sources claimed that the reason behind altercation between two groups was hoisting party flag in the area. Later, Indore assembly constituency one candidate Sudarshan Gupta submitted a written complaint to DIG Harinarayanachari Mishra after which police registered a case against five persons and started investigation.

The Congress supporters created ruckus at police station and demanded action against BJP supporters. According to police, a case under Sections 341, 294, 323, 147, 452, 506 was registered against Yogendra Mourya, Arvind Chouhan, Raja Dhiman, Golu Pandit and Rohan Tawda on complaint of Anil Khatwa of Ganga Nagar. Khatwa told police that he along with corporator Rajesh Chouhan, Bane Singh Thakur, Ashok Upadhyay and Pawan Solanki are BJP supporters and they were going to party office of their constituency near Bada Ganpati Square when accused (supporters of Congress candidate from Indore- 1 Sanjay Shukla) stopped them and entered into argument.

The situation turned tense and accused thrashed them. After that, Khatwa and his friends entered a house to save themselves but the accused followed them to house and thrashed them. Two of the accused pelted stones and brick pieces, which injured Khatwa and Ashok. Accused fled when local residents intervened but not before threatening them. Later, BJP MLA Sudarshan Gupta along with supporters reached DIG office and demanded action against the supporters of Congress candidate Sanjay Shukla. DIG assured them to take appropriate action. A large number of Congress supporters also gathered at Chandan Nagar police station and created ruckus for strict action against BJP supporters who allegedly thrashed Shukla’s supporters following an argument. The police did not file case against another group till late night.
