Patna : An attempt to prosecute the mythological Lord Ram under the Domestic Violence Act was thwarted by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Sitamarhi, who quashed a complaint filed by a 31-year-old local lawyer seeking justice for Sita, who was sent on exile into a forest by Ram.

One Thakur Chandan Kumar Singh had filed a complaint stating that Ram had been cruel to Sita by sending her into exile for no fault of hers. According to lawyers present in the court, the CJM found that the matter was “beyond logic and facts” and not maintainable for initiating a case. Even no evidence was produced by the complainant before the bench, a lawyer present in the court said.

In a similar case in Dhanbad more than 5 years back, a sub judge of Dhanbad had issued non bailable warrant against Ram, Lakshman and Hanuman directing them to appear before him in ”persons”.
