Bhopal: Staff unions want Vande Matram return

Bhopal: Employees unions want Vande Matram recitation be resumed in graceful and dignified manner. They said it should not be mere formality or ritual as it happened. It is recited on first of every month at Vallabh Bhavan but on January 1, it was not recited. It generated heat in political circle as new CM Kamal Nath stopped recitation of Vande Matram.

For the past 13 years, government officials would sing Vande Mataram on the first day of every month before starting the day’s work. The practice was started by the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BJP, which is now in the opposition has termed the ending of convention as unfortunate.
