Bhopal: CJM court has issued a bailable warrant against BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra for violation of Model Code of Conduct. On October 27, Patra held a press conference in MP Nagar in Bhopal, following which the Congress had filed a complaint with the Election Commission.
The organisers of the press conference had sought a slot between 1 pm and 3pm that day but it was held between 12 noon and 12:30 pm, which the Election Commission had treated as MCC violation.
The FIR at first only included the name of BJP functionary SS Uppal. However, Patra’s name was added following a report from Bhopal’s returning officer. Additional district prosecuting officer Rajendra Upadyaya said, “CJM court has issued a bailable warrant against BJP national spokesman Sambit Patra for violation of Model Code of Conduct of assembly polls.”
Congress had filed a complaint with the EC stating that press conference which was held without permission had blocked the road and it is a violation of MCC.
