Bhopal: Around 71 per cent polling was reported in 43 urban bodies for the election conducted on Friday. The counting will be held on August 16. The elections passed off peacefully. For the first time the nomination forms were submitted online, along with the traditional procedure.

State election commissioner R Parsuram said in the state in 43 local bodies the election was held on August 11 and counting would be done on August 16. Of 41, in three bodies the right to recall polling had been conducted. Fifty-two polling stations were connected with webcasting, while 762 wards in 43 urban bodies, 1,174 polling stations were established. For the presidential post 161 and for corporators 2,133 candidates contested the election.

In Pali, Bihar, Lakhnadon, Pandurna, Mohegaon, Chocholi, Mandleshwar, Maheshwar, Bhikangaon, Alirajpur, Chandra Shekhar Azad Nagar and in Jabot flex hoardings were erected in which the information of president and corporator affidavit was displayed.
In Nagar Palika Parishad 14, Nagar Parishad 23, and in four places by-election was done for the president post.

On two places including Narsinghpur and Vidisha districts the voters practised their votes to elect the president under the Right to Recall polling. Till date 33 times RTR has been used by voters.

Total 7, 94, 894 voters of urban areas will elect their representatives. The by-election for the president was conducted in four places.
General election of 23 gram panchayats was also conducted, in which 23 sarpanchs and 356 panchs will be elected.

By-election was conducted in various places in the state. Voters of Harda, Chhindawara and Umaria voted to elect their district panchayat members.

In 14 places the polling to elect janpad panchayat members was conducted. Similarly polling for 74 sarpanchs and 5,631 panchs was done in by-elections.
