Probe Bhaiyyu Maharaj’s wife, daughter as suspects: Maharashtra followers

Followers of self-styled godman late Bhaiyyu Maharaj who came from Maharashtra met district collector, Inspector General of Police and Deputy Inspector General of Police here on Monday and demanded CBI probe into Maharaj’s death. On June 13 this year, Bhaiyyu Maharaj had shot himself dead at his posh residence in the city. Most of his followers stated that it was murder and had demanded a high-level probe.

On Monday, about 20 followers from Maharashtra visited city and met police officials. They included office bearers of Shri Sadguru Datta Dharmik and Parmarthik Trust located in Akola, Nagpur, Amravati, Khamgaon and other districts of Maharashtra. Indore’s trust secretary Tushar Patil too visited police officials with them and questioned police probe into the case. They alleged that police who were under pressure by “someone highly influential” overlooked major points of investigation into Bhaiyyu Maharaj’s death.

The followers submitted memorandum to police officials in this regard. They also sent memorandum to President, Prime Minister and MP Governor demanding CBI probe.  “It was not a suicide but a planned murder and local police have failed to investigate properly. A CSP rank officer asked the suspects about their name, place of residence and some general information instead of launching a serious investigation,” Dr Datta Deshmukh who came from Akola said.

Another follower Shaam Deshmukh said, “There are many angles, which clearly show that it was a planned murder. Police didn’t arrest or detain any of the people who were present in the house on June 12 even after many days of the incident.” He said everyone present in the house, whether it is Bhaiyyu Maharaj’s wife Dr Ayushi or his daughter Kuhu, all must be questioned as suspects. Trustees said Dr Ayushi and Kuhu too demanded CBI probe and are ready for investigation.

Vinayak missing for 2 months
Along with trust members of Maharashtra, Indore Trust secretary Tushar Patil raised questions about suspicious activities of Maharaj’s sevadar Vinayak. “Vinayak is missing for last two months. He is in contact with people in Indore but not with the Trust members. His activities are suspicious and police should inquire from him too,” Patil alleged. He also said that accounts and bank lockers of all sevadars and members of Bhaiyyu Maharaj’s Suryoday Ashram in Indore should be checked. This will help police to get clues about conspiracy.

Points raised by followers

  • Bhaiyyu Maharaj had saved many farmers in Maharashtra from committing suicide. Then, how he can commit suicide?
  • Every man loves his mother and daughter. Why Banyu Maharaj didn’t mention their name in the suicide note, which was circulated in social media just after the incident?
  • It was a fake suicide note. Theory of clash between his wife and daughter was circulated by conspirators to divert investigation.
  • Every member who was present in house should be probed and accounts of all trustees and sevadars should be checked.
  • Police don’t want to see beyond their theory of suicide. CBI probe is must.

Tushar Patil said Bhaiyyu Maharaj didn’t know how to load or unload a gun. His gun and bullets were kept in different rooms about which Maharaj was unaware. “Police should probe that who loaded the gun and why? Who asked sevadar about whereabouts of gun?” Patil added.
