Angry vendor chops off IMC employee’s ear, threatens others 

Indore : A coconut seller chopped off the ear of an employee of Indore Municipal Corporation when he told him to remove his handcart from the road in Palasia area on Saturday.

The IMC team was removing the encroachment from the main road when the incident took place. The employee whose ear has been cut till half from ear lobe, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The civic body has launched a drive against the road side vendors in the city.

According to Palasia police, the incident took place at Anand Bazaar main road. When they told the coconut vendor Anis Khan him to remove his handcart, he entered into heated argument with the employees.

Anis threw coconuts on the team. In a fit of anger, he attacked IMC employee Ashish Pathak on his ear with a knife and fled from the scene. The accused was not arrested till filling the report.

Palasia police station staff has booked accused Anis Khan under Sections 294, 324, 353, 332, 506 of IPC on the complaint of IMC official Dinesh Sanotiya and started investigation into the case.

Victim Ashish Pathak told mediapersons that the team reached Anand Bazaar on the directions of senior IMC officials to remove handcarts that had blocked road and traffic flow in the area.

Anis was told to remove his handcart but he did not comply after repeated reminders. After attack, he threatened other IMC employees with dire consequences if they lodged police complaint against him.  Sanotiya told Free Press that Ashish received severe injuries.
