Ujjain : The Anganwadi workers would observe a strike on September 2, 2016, to press their six-point demands.

A decision to this effect was taken during the meeting of ‘Anganwadi Karykarta Evam Sahayika Ekta Union’ (CITU). On the occasion, CITU leader Ram Tyagi lashed the government for ignoring genuine rights of the Anganwadi workers. He said that on one hand the state Assemblies and Parliament have been continuously raising the salary of MLAs and MPs and on the other Anganwadi workers have been deprived of minimum wages.

The meeting also took on record various preparations for the ensuing strike call. The members also reformed the local unit. Accordingly, Aazma Bi was made working president and Kiran Sharma, Rita Nagar, Asha Malviya, Anju Bangeria, Durga Dhakad, Urrmit Tomar and Sarita Navrang were included in the executive body. Union secretary Manoj Thakur conducted the proceedings.
