Pune: Pune residents brace yourselves for once-a-day water supply after Diwali. The chief engineer, Pravin Gedam of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) made this announcement. Pune city gets its supply from the Khadakwasla dam and receives 1350 tmc water on a daily basis. However, the state water resources department has decided to curtail this supply to 1150 tmc. This decision was taken at a meeting last week.
At this meeting, the water resources department officials decided to curtail the water supply to Pune city and divert supply to the drought areas of Daund, Indapur, Haveli and Baramati. Due to which, now Pune city supply will have to re-assessed. As per the rules, PMC is supposed to get 1150 tmc water supply on a daily basis, but was usurping 1600 tmc water for Pune city. Instead of twice a day, now Pune city will get water only once a day.
