Warns of moving court with criminal defamation suit worth Rs 10 cr against Congress leader
Mumbai: Minister of State for Housing Ravindra Waikar has slapped a defamation suit against MRCC president Sanjay Nirupam over the allegations levelled by him regarding the gymnasium at Aarey colony.
“Nirupam should apologise for the false allegations levelled against me within 15 days or else I shall move court with a criminal defamation suit worth Rs 10 crore. We had sent the defamation notice to his residence as well as to the Congress office. But, it was not accepted on any of the addresses,” Waikar said while speaking to media on Monday. Nirupam immediately replied, saying that why should he wait for 15 days, when it is better to move to the court tomorrow itself.
Meanwhile, leader of opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil too criticised the state government over the conduct of the minister, saying that the minister should not threaten some common man with legal action, but furnish the requisite information if he is not guilty.
Waikar also said that he has furnished all the details regarding the allegations levelled by Nirupam to the Lokayukta and has also apprised Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of ground realities regarding the false allegations levelled by Nirupam.
Waikar also added that he has been an elected representative from the Jogeshwari constituency of the legislative assembly and has carried out the work in capacity of an MLA from his MLA funds and said all the things have been done as per the law.
