Today is Rajkummar Rao’s 33rd birthday, the versatile actor, who is currently the talk of the town for his stupendous Pritam Vidrohi act in Bareilly Ki Barfi. His comedy gets up rolling on the floor with laughter and his horror puts us in a blanket of fear.
Born in Gurgaon, Haryana, Rao graduated in Arts from University of Delhi. He was awarded the Filmfare and National Film Awards or Best Actor and Critics Best Actor for the role of Shahid Azmi in Shahid.
In 2008, Rajkummar graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and shifted to Mumbai for a film career.

Bareilly Ki Barfi
We got to start with this since it is so much in news. The film is the story of Bitti, Chirag and Pritam Vidrohi with Rao playing the latter. As Pritam Vidrohi, who is forced to turn ‘bhai’ from ‘seedha saadha’, Rao is in top form. Though film revolves around Chirag (Ayushmaan Khurrana) and Bitti (Kriti Sanon), it is Rao who steals the show. He has earned effusive praise for his dual act in the film.
Kai Po Che!
Kai Po Che is a story of three friends debutant Sushant Singh Rajput, Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh, who want to start their own sports shop and academy. The film also revolves around the 2001 Gujarat earthquake and Godhra train burning. His portrayal as one of the friends earned him a supporting actor awards like Filmfare and Zee Cine.
Another great performance by Rajkummar Rao was in Hansal Mehta’s directorial film ‘Shahid’. The film based in real life of Human Right Lawayer Shahid Azmi, who has defended the 2004 film Black Friday in the court. The character of Shahid was portrayed by Rajkummar, who did not receive much box office success, but was critically acclaimed.
What will you do if you are trapped in a house? Trapped is one Rao’s best performances till date. The film is a psychological thriller where the film’s protagonist, Shaurya, is locked inside the new house in an uninhabited condition. He survive without water, food and electricity. He tried to get in touch with people but he failed to that and Trapped inside the house. For the role of Shaurya, he get a standing ovation from the audience at 18th Mumbai Film Festival.
The film Newton revolves around Newton Kumar, who is a sincere and honest government clerk. He is sent on election duty in the conflict-ridden jungles of Naxal-afflicted village in Chhattisgarh. Newton wants people to know the importance of election and duties but faces obstacles. Apart from Rajkummar, the film has a star cast of amazing actors like Sanjay Mishra, Raghubir Yadav and Pankaj Tripathi. The film will release in India on September 22.
Rao will also be seen playing the role of Subhas Chandra Bose in the upcoming film ‘Bose Dead/Alive’. In this film, he will be seen is a semi-bald avatar to look like a Bose. The actor told Mid-day, “We tried prosthetics, but it wasn’t working for me. Playing Bose was a huge responsibility and I didn’t want to go wrong. It was an impromptu decision to go shave.” The web series aims to portray Bose’s journey as a national leader and rejuvenating the Indian National Army.
