Mumbai : The Vikhroli Police are on the lookout for the killer of a 40-year-old woman from Kannamwar Nagar, who was stabbed to death by her paramour after they had a fight over her behaviour.
Police sources said that the victim, Jyotsna Gaikwad, was earlier married and has two kids from the marriage. However, her husband left her after some years and she had been living with her mother since then. She had become friendly with her cousin and they got into a relationship, the police said. The duo later moved in together and while she was working as a private nurse, the man, identified as Nitin Rajput, was working at a nearby mall.
However, since the last few days the couple were having regular fights since he doubted her character, the police said. On Wednesday evening, they had a fight in public near their house and he slashed her on the neck and face with a chopper, the police said. The woman collapsed on the spot and her partner ran away from the place.
Bystanders took the woman to a local hospital where she died while under treatment and the police was informed of the case. A medical examination revealed that the culprit had slashed the woman’s throat and also inflicted other injury marks on her face and neck, before disappearing from the place, sources said.
When asked about the case, sub inspector RH Jhavare of Vikhroli Police Station said that they are still on the lookout for the culprit and he seems to have gone into hiding.
