Mumbai: Over 275 companies will be visiting the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) for campus placements from December 1 to 16. Sources said, 1,650 students have registered for placements with around 800 job announcements. In an attempt to reduce the burden on the students, IIT-B has introduced an institute-supervised common aptitude test for students who have registered for placements.
Due to this, students will have to attempt fewer company tests and elimination rounds. The background of every company background is verified by the placement team so that students can take an informed decision as per IIT-B authorities. A professor in charge of placement said, “We expect several more companies to turn up for the placements. The response this year is better than last year as students are actively participating in the selection process.”
This year, IIT-B has received 165 pre-placement offers (PPOs), of which 126 have been accepted. “There is good response from several companies to adopt this test,” he informed.IIT There has been a rise in the participation of IT and software companies. The top slot for first four days have been allotted to leading International and domestic Management Consulting, Core Engineering, Information Technology and Finance companies.
International companies participating include Japanese, European, Singaporean, Taiwanese and some American/ Canadian companies by job location. The slotting of companies for each day has been decided based on student preference, which is governed by the job profile, reputation of the companies, alumni feedback and salary offered. 45 first-time recruiters are participating this year, which include semi-conductor, Fintech, financial services, data analytics, IT firms.
