Congress released a document compilation of crime against women and children on Saturday. National spokesperson of Congress Priyanka Chaturvedi, said that rape cases have risen by 249 percent in MP. Questioning claims of the BJP government she released data of crime against women since 2004. The release was made a day ahead of International Day for Elimination of violence against women.
She said in 2004, 584 abduction cases were registered across the state which have rose to 4994 in 2018. She said 2, 41, 535 women were raped in the regime of mama Ji. Citing government data she said that 70 percent of criminals accused of crime against women are acquitted due to poor prosecution. She claimed that over 7, 000 cases of crime against women are pending when Mama Ji came to power and the figure has reached 85, 383 cases.
She said that infant mortality rate is so high that 90, 000 children below age 1 year die every year. 32 percent underage girls are married every year. She said 18, 004 children were raped in Mama’s regime. She said on November 11 a social activist did a sting operation in Alirajpur revealing child trafficking in which BJP leaders were booked by the police.
