New Delhi : Officials of Vodafone International Holdings BV will meet Finance Secretary Arvind Mayaram on Friday, a ministry official said. The meeting assumes significance as it comes amid speculations that the telecom giant has stepped up efforts to resolve the long-pending tax dispute with the government. Vodafone became India’s largest overseas corporate investor after it brought Hutchison Whampoa’s Indian assets in 2007. However, authorities said that the transaction was liable to be taxed in India because gains are arising from actual assets in the country.
