Vijaya Bank implements Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana

Vijaya Bank is implementing Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana through all its 1533 Branches. In Mandya, Dharwad and Haveri districts, where the Bank has Lead Bank responsibility, the programme was successfully launched on 28.08.2014 with active participation of all banks.

In order to provide banking services in the remote villages, the Bank has already deployed 869 Business correspondents ( Bank Mitras as being called under the programme)  in the Sub Service Areas allotted to the Bank.

The Bank has so far opened 5.64 lakh Basic Savings Bank Deposit Accounts under the programme and RuPay debit cards with accidental insurance coverage of Rs.1 lakh are being issued to all these beneficiaries free of cost.

Apart from conducting weekly account opening camps on every Saturdays, Mega Camps are also organized once in a month to facilitate opening of accounts to those households who do not have bank accounts.
