New Delhi: Two more service providers will provide pan-India mobile number portability from Friday, enabling customers to retain their mobile phone number while relocating between states.

Tata Docomo, the unified telecom brand of Tata Teleservices Ltd (TTL), and Aircel decided to roll out the facility along with five other operators: Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Reliance Communications, Idea Cellular and MTS India.

“We are expecting a positive uptake on full number portability. Customers can expect a completely seamless experience while porting on to the Tata Docomo network,” said Gurinder Singh Sandhu, head marketing, TTL.

“There will be no acquisition fee for porting from Tata Docomo to Tata Docomo, and customers can enjoy free incoming on roaming on Tata network until the portability request is processed,” Sandhu added.

Aircel said: “This landmark step enables customers from across the country to easily shift from one state to another, if required, without now having to face the ordeal of changing their mobile numbers.”
